This is one of the most challenging paintings, I have to come up with. The way the show works, is each artist pick their favorite song and submit the song to the organizer. Then, Beehive Society will shuffle the song, and assign each artist with other's song selection. I get assign on Joni Mitchell's A Case of You. I am not familiar with both singer and the song ... it takes me quite a lot of head scratching to figure out how to interpret the song visually. Somehow, I can't "see" the song in a visually narrative form ... so I end up decision to approach it with a more abstract interpretation ... which is very different from my usual style.
It's a fun challenge!!
Many wonderful artists will be in the show.
Please come and join the fun!!
Happy day,
Alina

No matter how you feel about Google's Library Project, you may find ammunition for your point of view in an article in the December 10th issue of The Weekly Standard by Jonathan V. Last, called "Google and Its Enemies." The funniest single quote:
"Google has, as they say, all the right enemies. Anytime the ALA, Microsoft, France, a trade guild, and a bunch of trial lawyers are lined up on one side of an argument, the other side is going to look extremely attractive."
Incidentally, he actually doesn't like what Google is doing.
George - thanks for the article, it was very interesting. One technical fallacy, though: author Last claims that when GBS has 32 million books, it will have "bested" the titles in WorldCat!
