9. Imaginary Trip To Alsace

Day one of work at the art store went really well. The people there are great and it's pretty neat to be working right downtown Toronto. I step outside for lunch and the CN Tower is right there. To celebrate that and of course Julie's graduation we had a bottle of pretty unremarkable German sparkling wine and a great bottle of gewurtztraminer from Alsace. A family favorite. A bottle of wine is like a very cheap trip somewhere far away, a former employer of mine once said.

11. Sprout Tomorrow

Starting tomorrow I'm going to post the first in a weekly comic called Sprout. Sprout is about me and my family as we struggle with work and raising Henry and money and moving to Toronto. It's actually fiction but the family is based on us. I'm doing it for Henry so that I have something to give him so he has some idea what the early years were like. These comics are done quickly and for fun but I enjoy doing them. I hope you enjoy them too.

15. ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ SPROUT

If I could have anything here on my plate.
It wouldn't be something I'm likely to hate.

I'd be happy with something green as an apple,
Or anything related to soda or snapple.

I am happier still if it isn't too squishy,
Or ends up too spicy or even too fishy.

Celery's fine and so is potato,
And there's carrots or even tomato.

I said I like beans and even mom's chili,
But giving me this is just short of silly.

Why not meat or a portion of trout?
Just give me a meal that isn't a sprout!
