Somehow, "so many people in the same device" made me think of literary device. Perhaps those people are tangled up because they're in some *$#@#!ing author's novel. Have you seen Stranger Than Fiction? Love the way you do your research and give us the extended story.

And what is a literary device if not the hand of divine fate (the Author Almighty) guiding those characters toward their destinies?Have not seen Stranger Than Fiction yet. It's full of everything I like, except it's about writers. I always find movies about authors leave me wanting to cleanse my palate with documentaries, for some strange reason.

Ha! This is great! (The two slabs of trout especially got me.)I have to tell you that my daughter used to take lentil soup in a Thermos to her pre-school. That is, until one kid said: What's that? Poop?

It's so true, kids can be so mean when it comes to other's lunches. I used to bring pickles, cheese and mustard sandwiches and even my friends thought that too weird and wouldn't sit with me.In sixth grade we were allowed to eat lunch at home if we lived close enough. By then I was replacing the mustard with sandwich spread.

I think the unknown is what scares people more than tolerance does, and I think that ignorance also sometimes trumps faith in those circumstances. I grew up in a Southern town where outsiders were often viewed with suspicion. And the definition of "outsider" expanded or contracted with whoever was talking. And power corrupts. Sadly, there is much fear,hypocrisy,intolerance and ignorance in our country today. The voice of this poem, of this book, needs to be heard by every American. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I agree, we have mechanisms for discussion but too often that discussion is divisive and the lack of tolerance is usually the most dominant aspect.Worse, too many speaking but too few listening. I've got three major writing projects going on right now and don't anticipate beginning the translation until around mid-September. Dutch not being a language I know (I studied German, similar, but way different) I suspect it's going to take me a while to get through.Let me know if you have success with that Google search.

I'm late in getting to this but am so glad I did eventually see it. Wow. Gonna have to find a copy one day.

Perhaps because I've yet to actually experience a poetry slam in person, I've never really appreciated reading the poems from said events. However, I can certainly see the appeal to this one. I love the humour, especially in the "...hear me roar/(meow)" lines.
