About G. K. Chesterton
Gilbert Keith Chesterton (May 29, 1874–June 14, 1936) was an influential English writer of the early 20th century. His prolific and diverse output included journalism, poetry, biography, Christian apologetics, fantasy, and detective fiction.
Over the past dozen years interest in G.K.C. has increased dramatically because although he never claimed to be a prophet, many of the things he foretold from 1900 to his death in 1936 seem as though they had just been stated:-
"The modern world is a crowd of rapid...cars all brought to a standstill in a block of traffic" (1926)
"We are already drifting near to a new war, which will probably start on the borders of Poland" (1932)
"A country like Russia has far more capacity for producing revolution than....England or America"-that was written in 1905!
So Chesterton societies and groups flourish in Britain, Australia, Canada, Argentina, most European countries, and many in the U.S.A.
