10. Ketzel the Cat who Composed

My new book Ketzel the Cat Who Composed came out this month.  It is a sweet little story about a sweet little kitty that liked "meowsic."

I am very proud and excited to say that after taking piano for 17 years I finally got a professional gig! Well - to draw a piano, not to play a piano.

(But just so everyone knows, if you need someone to play a smokin hot Black Forest Polka look no further. skills. we got em.)

I always like to show some sketches. I feel like they are the bones of the book.

Sometimes when I am doing sketches I have an idea that seems like  an obvious no brainer at the time, but in retrospect is only good for a laugh.  This is one of those. The disembodied cat paws playing the piano in duet? That is just weird.

Several different versions of the main character in the book, who's name is Moshe, walking around NY city before he finds Ketzel the cat:

kitty love.

and they live happily ever after.

Until...

to find out the exciting conclusion, go. buy. the. book.

thanks.

11. the Boston Globe

Voila! the Boston Globe..

Um, seriously I love this topic. Free-Range kids is such an interesting issue.

My take on all the old Grimm fairy tales and folk tales is that they are a way of scaring your kids silly- to protect them when parents aren't around.

go check it out right now!!

or in a little while.

Ok times up, now get going for pet's sake!

17. Rock-a-Bye Room

Me and my Junes

Me and Junes dancing to the tunes

The cover is a record. get it?

THis is where I live. In the real world.

I dig a pony.

I tried to put in as many references to Rock and Roll as possible. Little Boy Blue is James Dean.
Elvis is the King.

I love this book.  I love the peaceful rocking sway of the words. And I had about as much fun as a person can  making a nursery rhyme -rock and roll world.

Buy it and then Rock-a-Bye to it.
because books are fun.

19. Happy Halloween!

When did Halloween become almost as complicated as Christmas? I don't know about you, but we are definitely on day 10 of "on the twelfth day of Halloween my True Blood gave to me."

What did your True Blood give you?

Organ meat?

Endangered Animal pelts?

Antique Monster drawings?

22. And now, since it is Spring : some Grimm.

Littel Brother  Little Sister.

a great story by the brother's Grimm.  My kids love the new annotated Grimm that we just got.  I do too.  Its the real deal.  Those who do not believe in magic will never find it.

25. Stuff I'm Thankful for

The list is long and by no means exhaustive, but sincere.  Of course the things not on there, but at the very top are parents, sisters, brothers, cousins, grandparents, friends, love, and unconditional love. So I love You every bit as much as I do scotch tape and space heaters.

THis was a sort of stream of consiousness for "things I am thankful for". It is already giving me hives that I have left  vital things out. What are they?
