1. Being Touched by Spirit

lovewhenweneedit

Last night I was up worrying. I had much on my mind. And as I closed my eyes to try to fall back asleep, I felt invisible arms take me into a warm embrace and I heard, “Everything will be all right.” It felt like a female presence but I couldn’t identify at that moment who it was. It was beautiful and comforting and I really needed that.

Everything will be all right

I hadn’t had an experience like that in a long, long time, and it reminded me of what had happened to me in college way back when.

I was into the second year of college on a large campus in Maryland. I loved the excitement and resources of a big college but my empathic self found it completely overwhelming. On top of it, I was in a bad relationship, and I wanted to switch majors out of a demanding, unreasonable design program and I couldn’t. It was no wonder I was having mysterious panic attacks at the time. I was seriously contemplating leaving school for some place safer. One weekend, I was sleeping over my boyfriend’s family home and was placed in the guest bedroom. The room was small and a little stuffy with a tiny window for light to stream in. I felt very alone and scared. Looking back, it was one of those rock bottom moments. I squeezed the bedsheet around me as hard as I could and just broke down in tears. I am not a crier — it has to be big for tears to readily flow. I think the spirit world recognized that because I felt someone take my hand and hold it. At first I was naturally startled. No one was around in the tiny little room. I fully expected to look down and see a hand connected to a person. But the warmth connected to that hand overpowered the fear and spoke volumes of what I needed just at that moment.

We can be hugged for a moment or feel those delicious tingles when we are feeling Spirit. Either it’s the Divine reminding us we are not alone and still connected, loved ones passed over, or personal angels, it’s all the same: LOVE when we need it.

Have you had a similar experience?

2. Why can’t I hear my dog or loved one, but you can?

Often, this is the question I get the most with students and other people. I even found an old email I gratefully missed seeing berating me for claiming that I could talk to my departed mother. How do I answer that?

For one thing, yes, I can talk to animals and feel spirits. The spirits more like drop in and out on occasion. I can’t conjure up. It’s more like having someone call you up on the telephone. I’m not delusional, I’ve been relatively grounded, and I’m psychologically sound even though life has really roughed me up a bit, and I’ve concluded that it was that “roughing up” that allowed me to hear or see.

Here’s one of my theories

Many of the friends I have that are truly “psychic,” which is really aware of other dimensions, or simply, what’s beyond THIS, have had in their life some kind of experience that caused them to pop out of their bodies from some kind of trauma. During that popping out they noticed “hey, there’s something else here.” No, they didn’t go into the devil’s world, which at least, I hope not. When I was a kid, I had such chronic pain that it was an easy thing to just pop out and hang out on the ceiling then feel that pain all the time (by the way, animals do this.) I was already very empathic, just like mother, and I think that’s how–the popping out–was why I also able to readily hear guidance.

Some folks need their worlds to fall apart to experience that there’s more then what’s here. GRIEF can open you up completely or…shut you down. That’s one big reason you can’t hear your loved one or your departed dog. There isn’t a thing you did wrong or something wrong with you. What I know from experience is when I am very upset and angry at the world, I can’t access any guidance. I feel cut off and stranded. I think with grief, you’re in a protective mode. You need to be insulated so you can heal. And then later on, you can hear or feel and connect to loved ones.

Some folks have had trauma and hurt early on and have always been shut down. It’s safer that way when the world is an unsafe place. But if you asked them, they will recall little signs that happened in their lives that showed them they were watched over, if they are willing to see it.

Lots of people could hear and see when they were children. But as they grew up and life got hard, they forgotten this.

Some folks are very left-brained and they experience the world solely from the mind, and therefore, won’t hear or see. (They need to rent movies like DRAGONFLY.) That’s not their path to hear.

Don’t Push

When I hear students say this, I always question if they are pushing or trying to hear/feel. That always shuts things down. Then your mind comes in and takes over. They are almost always missing the SUBTLE signs of communication and dismissing it as nothing, but it’s there. They are feeling hugged (those goosebumps out of nowhere), having songs come into their heads out of nowhere, seeing a shadow run across the room or a blink of light. That’s the communication! It doesn’t have to be a full-blown ghost giving a six page message. That’s just television! And always with their animals, they just need validation that they are already picking up a ton of information from their animals. How can they not? They are so connected to them.

I’ve always thought like a scientist. I need proof to believe and I need to experience it. Most folks are like that. So, if they don’t experience it or see it, why would they believe it? And the interesting thing is, when you have lots of experiences and you start to believe, the experiences increase.

No, I’m not special at all because I pick up things from spirits or know what dogs feel and think. I actually curse it sometimes when I have headaches from it and overload all the time, and pick up psychically what I really don’t want to or is helpful to me. I really don’t appreciate when people think I’m nuts. I don’t hear all the time, either, by the way. Sometimes, I stare at my dogs wondering what they want and can’t hear anything at all. Being sensitive can be a really big hindrance in my life, especially in my relationships, but it’s also a gift that can help others (I get to write about it.) And there are many out there who totally relate to this, who often come here.

Just Keep the Gate Open

The big thing is, if you are missing or grieving someone and you can’t feel or hear them, it doesn’t mean they have abandoned you or there’s no after-life, or worse, everyone who can is crazy. Right now, in this moment, you can’t. It’s not forever, and maybe there’s a reason, like I mentioned before. Instead, just leave that door open to possibility. That’s all you need for the world to surprise you. And boy, will it.

3. The Universe/God Has a Sense of Humor

I was playing around with the concept of manifesting and asking for more. I decided to ask for a specific monetary amount to arrive in the next few days. When I realized I was asking too little, I  blurted “$1000! I want a $1000 in the next few days.”

I received this in the mail.

Look closer…

Even more than I asked for!

Did I mention you need to be specific when you ask for things? Like, I could actually cash this check. The check was from a used car dealership  supposedly I could use towards a down payment on a new car.

:)

Halloween is fast approaching, and when I think of Halloween I always think of ghosts and spirit visits. Of course! Fun huh? Obviously, spirit communication is a fascination and a passion for me. It may be for you, too. So, here’s my favorite past posts on the subject to enjoy:

5. Ronni’s Psychic Tip: ear ringing

Spirit activity has been very busy lately. What I am seeing with myself and my friends and clients is an increased psychic ability. Blame the solar flares perhaps, but I do have one theory. What if we are succeeding at removing so much of our “stuff” that was in the way of our abilities? Perceiving was always there, but our vision was fogged over. I like that idea. We’re actually doing a good job, not another thing we need to improve.

Which leads me to this week’s psychic tip. Have you had any ear ringing? Sometimes it’s your Angels popping in to give you a message. Other times, it’s spirit making a visit. Yesterday, I had quite a bit of ringing. Finally I yelled, “What do you want?” It’s best to be more polite and cordial in these situations. I took the time out to tune in and see what I got. Usually, a face will pop into my head mentally or a thought to identify the caller. Sometimes, the spirit will just be delivering a message and you may not be sure who it’s from except to feel it’s a he or a she. That happened yesterday. I was just yelled at for not drinking enough water.

Of course, ear ringing can be you have water in your ear from swimming the day before, or you have a food allergy. Psychic ear ringing is usually sporadic and sudden and you have a gut feeling a presence  is nearby.

6. Finding your thread career guidance

Did you ever notice that when you learn a lesson or finally “get” a message of guidance, it seems so simple yet so true?

I am learning, or actually, relearning the lesson of “finding your thread.” Many of my clients and students are in transition regarding career and feel a bit lost. For myself, I am fine-tuning or targetting that mission every day. What I have learned to pass along is the importance of identifying what are the main skills or activities you love to do.

For instance, I am finding that I what I love to do has a common thread of detective/analytical/discovery work mixed in with compiling/designing/writing, then sharing or teaching what I learned. That thread is so simple yet took a while to wade through the crap that included:

1/what I thought I should want to do

2/what others wanted for me

3/past parental pleasing

4/what the market wanted me to be

What this discovery means is when I sway off the path of that thread, I’m not happy. If I am asked to do a workshop of something I no longer am exploring, and the discovery isn’t there or the detective work, I will walk away unfulfilled.  If there is no compiling/designing or putting together in some way, I will feel like a vital part is missing. And if there is no teaching component or sharing intended to help or inspire, I will feel empty.

I love making a flower essence which includes the discovery and creating and sharing. Creating my online classes includes all of the thread. Doing a reading involves lots of detective work, sharing and even compiling. These are all “yeses.”

Years ago, I was in a television pilot that didn’t include the creation/compiling end of things, so I felt a constant frustration throughout filming. When I didn’t include that activity/skill in my practice, I felt an emptiness I couldn’t name. When I was an illustrator only, I loved creating for a problem. There’s that analytical/compiling, the sharing, and discovery. My soul has been guiding me all along to what fits and doesn’t fit. That dissatisfaction let me know I was off my path of what fits me.

Finding this thread also eleviates a great deal of compromise on my part. I can also then, resist what others want for me but doesn’t fit. I simply take their suggestion and see if it fits into my thread.

What’s your thread? What is the component in your work that makes your heart sing happy Disney songs? What activity do you do naturally and would do even if you weren’t paid? What part of your work now doesn’t fit and drains you? That’s probably not part of your thread.

Explore…

(if you do need help finding that thread and need a little Guide assistance for your search, head over to the Readings page and schedule a reading. I’d be happy to help.)
